Be a Part of the Difference.

Do you believe that one person can change the world? Well, we do!

Here at Food Aid International, we whole-heartedly believe that anyone, anywhere has the ability to impact the world around us. And yes, that includes you!

When we first joined the fight against poverty and world hunger, we knew it would be a war we could not wage on our own. Since our genesis, we have relied on our partnerships with individuals, churches, businesses, schools, and other organizations to save lives throughout the nations.

In a world where 16,000 children die every single day due to hunger, no one can afford to be a bystander. Here at Food Aid International, we aim to give you the opportunity to have a life-saving, worldwide impact.

Now, many people assume that there’s nothing they can do to influence a problem as massive as world hunger. Nonetheless, we assure you that anyone, anywhere has the ability to impact the world around us, and here are a few ways that you can get plugged in. Whether it’s raising the funds, packing the meals, or spreading the word, anyone can help!

FUNDRAISING

Some people, businesses, and organizations are blessed to be able to donate at will to charities of their choice – however, this is an avenue of involvement that many cannot take. But most of us are plugged in with organizations that can raise contributions in a creative way! We have seen individuals, churches, and school clubs come together with great ideas that have led to huge amounts of meals being packed and shipped. Carwashes, bake sales, competitions – you name it. When there’s a cause like fighting world hunger behind it, you’ll be surprised by the overwhelming support you’ll find in your community! Looking to raise funds for a donation? Head over to our page at Food-Aid.org/donate.html!

PACKAGING

Food Aid’s primary source of meals over the years has been meal-packaging events – where a group as little as 25 and as large as 15,000 come together to package and box the meals that will be shipping out to those in need, both here in the States and across the world. And teenagers – don’t feel like this as a task too big for you: we’ve had plenty of 15 and 16 year-olds spearhead food-packaging events. Interested in hosting an event? Head to our website’s homepage at Food-Aid.org to find more information on how to do so!

CAMPAIGNING

Last but most certainly not least, Food Aid needs people that believe in our cause to spread the word about what we do! Just about everyone knows that world hunger is a colossal issue, but very few are connected to organizations that would give them the opportunity to fight it. Food Aid makes an effort to increase awareness of malnutrition, but this is an easy way for everyone to get plugged in! Follow us on Facebook on our ‘Food Aid International’ page, follow us on Twitter @Food_Aid, and give us a shout out! Use resources from Food-Aid.org to educate yourself, and then educate others!

In a world where 16,000 children die every single day due to hunger, the only solution is for all of us to work together. There is hope for the hungry. And we want you to help us bring them that hope.

#WorldHungerWednesday

The #WorldHungerWednesday Initiative

About a year and a half ago, the Food Aid International team kick-started the #WorldHungerWednesday Initiative – a social media campaign aimed to raise awareness for the extent of world hunger.

Did you know that poor nutrition causes one in two deaths under the age of five?

Did you know that there is enough food in the world to feed everyone 2,500 calories every day?

Did you know that hunger takes more lives each year than AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis combined?

If so, consider yourself among the few. If not, then you’re already getting the gist of what the initiative’s aim is.

World hunger is an issue of colossal scale – most people recognize that it is a major issue in the world, but few understand the gravity of the problem and the destruction it causes to lives across the world every day. The children that spend days worrying about when their next meal is, the lives that are lost every day due to malnutrition – they’re so much more than numbers. But sometimes it takes numbers, facts, and statistics to help us in the western world wrap our heads around the reality of world hunger.

It’s hard to hear things like “66 million children worldwide attend school hungry,” without being compelled to help make a difference, and that’s our end goal: to educate the general populace about hunger to compel them to help be a part of the difference.

Being a part of the difference, though, doesn’t always mean a donation. It doesn’t always mean having your church or business or school group host a meal packaging event. Sometimes, all it takes to be a part of the difference is to click “like,” and to click “share.”

15,000 volunteers to participate in meal packaging event

This weekend, members from every campus of Christ Fellowship Church will gather and package meals with the largest number of participants at a single event in humanitarian food-packaging event history.

Palm Beach Gardens, Florida 3/12/2015 With 2.5 million people living in extreme poverty, Haiti is the poorest country in the world. Two out of every three Haitians live on less than $2 per day. The devastating effects of the 2010 earthquake are still all too real for many Haitians that are living on the streets with nothing to eat. The need to provide nutritious food for the impoverished people of Haiti is more important now than ever.

Food Aid International, Inc. (FAI), an Atlanta-based non-profit, is very excited to partner with Christ Fellowship Church to mobilize 15,000 volunteers to package meals that will be sent to New Life Children’s Home in Haiti and parts of Africa. Twenty-six packaging events will take place this weekend at six campuses in South Florida and one in New York City. Additionally, hundreds of people who are part of the online campus are participating by writing prayers for each meal. By Sunday evening, the volunteers will have packaged over 280,000 meals that will be used to feed Haitian children and children in parts of Africa.

“The packaging events this weekend will be monumental,” said Dr. Chris Leader, president of Food Aid International. “The sheer number of volunteers serving alongside each other with one common goal – to fight and end world hunger – is unprecedented.” FAI has been sending meals to relief organizations and orphanages in Haiti since 2009. “It’s always a joy to work with new partners, both in the US and abroad,” Leader said. “We hope to bless children in Haiti and Africa through the tremendous and faithful efforts of Christ Fellowship Church.”

The New Life Children’s Home serves to help the poor, sick, abandoned and/or orphaned children across the nation of Haiti. The home provides full-time care for 130 boys and girls. They receive medical care, education, housing, food, and water. Christ Fellowship is proud to join the fight against world hunger and bring hope to the hungry.

The hashtag for this event on social media is #MakeAMeal.

CUBA RECEIVES 57,024 MEALS FROM FOOD AID INTERNATIONAL

Atlanta, GA, 1/13/2015 – The nation of Cuba has long been troubled by epidemic food shortages resulting in widespread hunger and malnutrition. As an impoverished, communist nation that is forced to ration food consumption, Cuba is impacted by starvation in a way that goes largely unnoticed by the free world.

The main public health crisis is anemia, with prevalence in the East of 56.7% among children under the age of 24 months and 20.1% amongst those between the ages of 2 and 5. There are a number of factors that have led to widespread anemia: inadequate food intake and availability; parasitic or infectious diseases; dearth of iron-rich food; insufficient education of anemia; poor water quality and sanitation; and a lack of hygiene practices.

Food Aid International has joined the fight against malnutrition and starvation in Cuba. Food Aid has packaged and shipped 57,024 malnutrition-fighting meals to the embargoed nation. Partnering with Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, the meals will be distributed in the upcoming months to malnourished students and their families.

“It is our privilege to serve the under-served in a region marked by communism and neglected by the world,” said Food Aid CEO Dr. Christopher Leader. “Food Aid International seeks to always care for the forgotten, and serves to bring hope to the hungry everywhere, regardless of the political climate.”
