15,000 volunteers to participate in meal packaging event

This weekend, members from every campus of Christ Fellowship Church will gather and package meals with the largest number of participants at a single event in humanitarian food-packaging event history.

Palm Beach Gardens, Florida 3/12/2015 With 2.5 million people living in extreme poverty, Haiti is the poorest country in the world. Two out of every three Haitians live on less than $2 per day. The devastating effects of the 2010 earthquake are still all too real for many Haitians that are living on the streets with nothing to eat. The need to provide nutritious food for the impoverished people of Haiti is more important now than ever.

Food Aid International, Inc. (FAI), an Atlanta-based non-profit, is very excited to partner with Christ Fellowship Church to mobilize 15,000 volunteers to package meals that will be sent to New Life Children’s Home in Haiti and parts of Africa. Twenty-six packaging events will take place this weekend at six campuses in South Florida and one in New York City. Additionally, hundreds of people who are part of the online campus are participating by writing prayers for each meal. By Sunday evening, the volunteers will have packaged over 280,000 meals that will be used to feed Haitian children and children in parts of Africa.

“The packaging events this weekend will be monumental,” said Dr. Chris Leader, president of Food Aid International. “The sheer number of volunteers serving alongside each other with one common goal – to fight and end world hunger – is unprecedented.” FAI has been sending meals to relief organizations and orphanages in Haiti since 2009. “It’s always a joy to work with new partners, both in the US and abroad,” Leader said. “We hope to bless children in Haiti and Africa through the tremendous and faithful efforts of Christ Fellowship Church.”

The New Life Children’s Home serves to help the poor, sick, abandoned and/or orphaned children across the nation of Haiti. The home provides full-time care for 130 boys and girls. They receive medical care, education, housing, food, and water. Christ Fellowship is proud to join the fight against world hunger and bring hope to the hungry.

The hashtag for this event on social media is #MakeAMeal.

CUBA RECEIVES 57,024 MEALS FROM FOOD AID INTERNATIONAL

Atlanta, GA, 1/13/2015 – The nation of Cuba has long been troubled by epidemic food shortages resulting in widespread hunger and malnutrition. As an impoverished, communist nation that is forced to ration food consumption, Cuba is impacted by starvation in a way that goes largely unnoticed by the free world.

The main public health crisis is anemia, with prevalence in the East of 56.7% among children under the age of 24 months and 20.1% amongst those between the ages of 2 and 5. There are a number of factors that have led to widespread anemia: inadequate food intake and availability; parasitic or infectious diseases; dearth of iron-rich food; insufficient education of anemia; poor water quality and sanitation; and a lack of hygiene practices.

Food Aid International has joined the fight against malnutrition and starvation in Cuba. Food Aid has packaged and shipped 57,024 malnutrition-fighting meals to the embargoed nation. Partnering with Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, the meals will be distributed in the upcoming months to malnourished students and their families.

“It is our privilege to serve the under-served in a region marked by communism and neglected by the world,” said Food Aid CEO Dr. Christopher Leader. “Food Aid International seeks to always care for the forgotten, and serves to bring hope to the hungry everywhere, regardless of the political climate.”

Food Aid International and First Baptist Church Atlanta partner to pack 1 million meals for Haiti in October 2014.

Atlanta, GA, 8/15/2014 – It’s been 4 years since the catastrophic earthquake shook Haiti killing over 200,000 people and displacing over 1.5 million into refugee camps. As a result of the earthquake, Haiti now has over 800,000 orphans. The need to feed Haitians is greater than ever, as thousands remain homeless and malnourished.

Food Aid International, Inc., a Raleigh-based non-profit, is very excited to partner with First Baptist Church Atlanta and pack one million meals to feed starving orphans and communities that are in desperate need of nutritious food.

“It is an incredible privilege to partner with First Baptist Church Atlanta and Dr. Charles Stanley in fighting child hunger in Haiti. Their one million meals will literally save the lives of countless children in Haiti,” said Dr. Chris Leader, President of Food Aid.

Food Aid International partners with Mission of Hope Haiti to distribute meals to children throughout the nation of Haiti. Mission of Hope is currently feeding over 89,000 children per day, many of which are orphaned and abandoned children. In addition to the feeding program, Mission of Hope also provides education, housing, and agricultural development in Haiti.

Thanks to the partnership with First Baptist Church Atlanta, and specifically the one million meals that they will package in October 2014, Food Aid can expand its reach to other Haitian communities, orphanages and school feeding programs.

“I am pleased to see First Baptist Church Atlanta and In Touch Ministries partner with Food Aid International to pack one million meals for needy children in Haiti. We will have approximately 1,500 people involved in this project. Our prayer is that these meals will make a difference in the lives of many children in Haiti,” said Dr. Charles Stanley, Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA.
